BOISE, Idaho (Court TV) – At Lori Vallow Daybell‘s virtual hearing Wednesday, Judge Steven Boyce kept his ruling, allowing Tammy Daybell’s aunt to speak at Lori’s sentencing hearing Monday.

Lori Vallow Daybell stands between her attorneys in court as the verdict is read in her trial.

Vicki Hoban, the sister of Tammy’s late mother, asked to represent Tammy at Lori’s sentencing, after Tammy’s mother, Phyllis Douglas, passed away in June.

Lori’s attorney Jim Archibald had opposed the ruling, arguing Tammy’s father, Ron Douglas, had already represented Tammy in a presentence report given to the Court and counsel on July 21, in which Douglas ‘“writes on behalf of myself and my now deceased wife.”’

“With Tammy’s sister and father submitting letters to the Court, it is no longer necessary for the Court to designate a family representative for Tammy’s mother. An aunt is not listed as a victim under Idaho law; therefore, the Court should not receive comments from Vicki Hoban as a victim,” the motion states.

Additionally, Lori’s defense says neither Douglas nor Tammy’s five children have asserted their rights as victims to make statements at Lori’s sentencing hearing.

Lori was convicted on May 15 of murdering her two youngest children, Tylee Ryan and JJ Vallow, and conspiring to kill Tammy, the first wife of her fifth husband, Chad Daybell.

Court TV will be providing live legal coverage of Lori’s sentencing hearing scheduled July 31. The hearing is expected to last one day.
