CA v. IVERSEN (1995)

LAPD Officer Douglas Iversen is accused of murder in the shooting death of John Daniels, Jr., a 36-year-old tow truck driver. In July of 1992, Iversen confronted Daniels regarding one of his tow trucks which Iversen had impounded for its alleged use in a crime. During the confrontation, Iversen claims that Daniels swore at him and attempted to drive away. Iversen, allegedly fearing that Daniels was dangerous, shot and killed him. Iversen's first trial, in 1994, ended in a hung jury.
